Why Axiom?

About us

Maths gives us power. It teaches us to imagine things never before imagined. To solve unsolvable challenges.

But every year 30,000 children who were top performers at the end of primary school don’t go on to get top GCSE grades in maths. Half of top performers who were on free school meals aged eleven are no longer top performers by sixteen.

Axiom Maths exists to change this. We partner with schools to help every child with the heart and head for maths realise the potential of their power.

How we work

What is Axiom Maths and how does it help pupils build confidence and belonging in maths?

Axiom Maths is an education charity improving social mobility by expanding access to maths enrichment for high-attaining pupils across the UK. We partner with schools to run maths circles: small-group sessions where pupils explore challenging yet satisfying maths, think deeply, and learn from one another. By spending time with problems and peers who share their interest, pupils develop greater confidence, a stronger sense of belonging and a deeper enjoyment of maths.

How can all high-attaining pupils access maths enrichment?

Axiom Maths works with schools to expand access to maths enrichment for high-attaining pupils, especially those from backgrounds who may otherwise miss out on these opportunities. Through fully funded maths circles, pupils can take part in sustained, challenging enrichment alongside peers who share their interest in maths.
