For pupils on our programme, your timeslot for the Autumn Term has been shared with you. We will be in touch on the week commencing 15th September with further details on how to join your session.

Each academic year, teachers from UK state-funded schools can nominate high-achieving Year 7 pupils with a head and heart for maths to join our programme.

The nomination period runs from September to November each academic year. Teachers will seek parental permission before submitting nominations. To learn more about how teachers can nominate pupils, please click here.

If you are experiencing poor connection, please follow the steps below:

Close extra tabs or apps: Shut down any unnecessary websites, apps, or programmes on your device, as they might slow down your internet.

Limit devices on your Wi-Fi: If possible, reduce the number of devices connected to your Wi-Fi during your session, as too many devices can make the connection slower.

Move closer to your internet router: If possible, ensure you are close to your internet router as this will strengthen connectivity.

You can find your Vedamo session link in the weekly reminder email (subject: "Your Maths Circle is Today"), which is sent to both the parent and pupil email addresses on record.

The link for joining the session does not change therefore you can use a link from a previous week to join the session.

Try each of the following options to troubleshoot audio issues:

If you are using a headset, ensure that it is properly connected to the correct audio port and the mute function is disabled.

Right click on the Vedamo tab and ensure that the site is not muted. If it is, you will see an option to unmute.
In your system’s audio settings, find the sound section and check that the correct output device is selected as the default playback device.

If you have waited 5–10 minutes for the session to start but your screen is still displaying the message below, there may be an issue with your session. Please contact us by filling out the form below.

What is the main reason for withdrawal

We understand that pupils progress at different speeds, and we want to make sure you are both supported and challenged.

If the maths feels too easy, mentors can deepen your thinking through rapid grasper problems, extended reasoning tasks, or exploring multiple strategies to solve a problem.

If it feels too difficult, the mentor can adjust the pace, revisit foundational content, and break down questions into smaller steps, to build confidence.

Please contact the Axiom Maths team so we can ensure the mentor is aware and can tailor their approach to ensure the pupil is being supported or stretched in the right way.

We understand how busy and overwhelming schedules can be. If timing is a challenge, we’d be happy to change the time of your session.

We offer sessions each weekday evening and weekend mornings and would love to find a time that works.

Online maths circles let pupils connect with others from many different schools and areas, helping them learn from different points of view and feel part of a bigger maths community.

We understand that this group might not be the right fit for you, and that's okay. Our goal is to help you find a group where you feel more comfortable and connected.

We understand that your current mentor might not be the right fit for you, and that's okay. Our goal is to help you find a mentor that is more suited to your learning style so you can get the most out of our programme.

While it may not feel directly linked to schoolwork, the maths circle deepens your understanding and builds advanced problem-solving skills. It’s designed to enrich your thinking and support your progress both in and beyond the classroom.

As you progress through the programme toward the later years, maths circles will begin to tackle problems which mimic the style of Grade 8/9 questions on GCSE papers.
