We are committed to supporting your pupils through the full five-year programme, from their first term in Year 7 to Year 11. This can take place entirely through their in-school maths circle, but sometimes schools may choose to transition pupils to our online programme, a different route to the same high-quality experience. This page explains how that works.
Our online programme follows exactly the same structure and curriculum as in-school sessions. Pupils take part at a set time each week, joining from home through our online platform. For more on why we offer online learning see this section.
How to move your pupils online
At the end of each academic year, we will ask you to confirm plans for the following year. This is the best time to tell us if you expect any challenges growing or supporting a circle. If you do, we will aim to offer those pupils the online programme so their journey can continue.
That said, we know capacity challenges can come up at short notice too. If that happens, let us know as soon as you can. We will do what we can to move affected pupils online quickly, even outside the usual planning cycle.
Here is the process:
- Let us know your school cannot grow its circles in person, either through the yearly recontracting form or in conversation with your Axiom Maths contact. We will share an online transition form with you.
- Complete the form for each transitioning circle by selecting each pupil and providing the block and session they need to start with online, and email addresses for their parent or carer.
- We review the request and, once approved, email the parent or carer of each pupil you have asked to move online.
- Parents and carers register their child's interest and share their availability.
- We assign pupils to their new groups and let parents and carers know.
How to encourage your pupils to switch
Many pupils find the idea of moving online daunting and may not be keen at first. Share the following with them, either by sending it on or talking it through in your next circle.
Show them the video above, which describes the programme and how we use the platform. Then reassure them that:
- Their experience will be very similar to their current circle, with the same structure and curriculum, starting from where they left off.
- They can join from home, at a time that suits them.
- There is no extra work, before or after sessions.
- Our interactive platform keeps sessions enjoyable and collaborative.
- Our trained, experienced mentors are well placed to support them through the next stage of their journey.
