Programme guide

Why we offer online learning

At Axiom Maths, we believe high-quality maths education should reach every pupil who would benefit from it. Our in-school programme is still our main offer. But some pupils learn better online, and not every school has the space or staff to run sessions in person. Our online programme lets pupils join maths circles from home, at a time that works for them.

Accessibility and inclusivity

  • Pupils can take part regardless of their school's capacity to deliver in person.
  • Our platform removes geographical barriers, so pupils can join from anywhere.
  • We design sessions to suit a range of learning styles and needs.
  • We run multiple time slots across the week, including weekends, so a busy schedule never stops a pupil from participating.

Quality and consistency

  • We recruit, assess, and train every online mentor carefully.
  • Our mentors have a strong maths background, experience leading small groups, and are great mathematical role models.
  • Our curriculum holds the same rigour and standards online as it does in school.

We keep improving our online delivery so every pupil gets the full benefit of the curriculum, however they access it. Our goal is to give every child with the heart and head for maths the patterns of reasoning, rich mathematical knowledge, and positive learning habits that lead to success.

The benefits of online learning

Alongside the weekly problems, learning online brings other benefits.

For pupils

  • A format that suits them. Some pupils simply feel more comfortable online and enjoy learning that way. We offer different delivery models so we can meet a wide range of needs and preferences.
  • A wider maths community. Online circles connect pupils across different schools and regions, so they learn from different viewpoints and feel part of something bigger.
  • Independent study habits. Working online helps pupils take charge of their learning, manage their time, and stay motivated. These skills help across every subject.

For schools

  • Easy to set up. You don't need extra staff or classroom space. You help identify the pupils who would benefit, and we handle the rest.
  • Capacity when you're full. If your timetable or rooms are already stretched, online circles let you still offer the programme.
  • Flexibility to match each pupil. Offer in-person and online options together, so pupils choose the format where they learn best.
