Your pupils are enrolled on a five-year journey, from Year 7 to Year 11, and we’ll keep you informed throughout. How often you hear from us, and what we share, depends on whether your pupils are with Axiom Maths or one of our trusted delivery partners. You may hear from one or both of us while your pupils are taking part.
Session timings and schedule
Online circles run once a week, all year round: 10 sessions a term, 30 across the year. Each session lasts one hour on our virtual classroom platform, Vedamo.
Sessions run at these times:
- Monday to Friday: 5:00pm, 6:15pm, 7:30pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00am, 11:15am, 12:30pm
We group pupils by availability, not ability. We collect this before enrolment, so please make sure the details you send us are accurate.
Term dates 2026 to 2027
These are the term dates for pupils enrolled on the online maths circles programme. Please note two things. Breaks within terms may not match your school's half terms. And if a bank holiday falls in term time, the session still goes ahead as normal.
Autumn 2026
- Term starts: Monday 21 September
- Two-week break: Monday 19 October to Sunday 1 November
- Term ends: Sunday 13 December
Spring 2027
- Term starts: Monday 11 January
- One-week break: Monday 15 February to Sunday 21 February
- Term ends: Sunday 28 March
Summer 2027
- Term starts: Monday 19 April
- One-week break: Monday 3 May to Sunday 9 May (early May bank holiday)
- One-week break: Monday 31 May to Sunday 6 June
- Year ends: Sunday 11 July
Changing your session time
Sometimes a pupil cannot make their allocated session and needs a different time. If a parent or carer raises this with you, let them know we are happy to help.
Ask them to contact us directly. We run sessions daily, on weekday evenings and weekend mornings, so there is usually a slot to suit.
Also, inform parents and carers that we cannot make temporary switches between groups. Any change of day or time needs to be a long-term move. It is important to keep their child's learning consistent.
Attendance
Regular attendance keeps pupils progressing and keeps the group strong.
What we do:
- We monitor attendance closely across every online circle.
- We ask parents and carers to report any absence in advance, using an absence form.
- If a pupil misses three or more sessions in a row without an authorised absence, we contact their parent or carer to let them know their child may be removed from the programme.
How you can help:
- Keep encouraging pupils to attend, and remind them why it matters: steady progress, staying engaged, and learning alongside others.
- If you notice a pupil disengaging, let us know. We would rather work with you early than lose a pupil from the programme.
Withdrawing from the programme
We do not want any pupil to leave. They were selected for their exceptional mathematical talent, and we want to keep nurturing that.
If a parent or carer raises the idea of withdrawing, encourage them to talk to us first. A change of session time solves this more often than you might expect.
If a pupil does decide to leave, a parent or carer needs to complete a withdrawal form. We will follow up with them directly afterwards.
