This guide covers the essential setup requirements for our online classes. Here is everything you need to know so you are ready to start your first online maths circle.
- Check your Device
Check that your device meets Vedamo's system requirements:
- Use a laptop, desktop, or tablet (mobile phones are not recommended).
- Use the latest version of your web browser – Google Chrome is our recommended platform but the platform also works with MS Edge version 90+, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari (required on iPhones or iPads).
- Compatible devices include those running on Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10 or 11), MacOS (12.5.5 or higher), Android (5.0 or higher).
- Test your Internet Connection
Run a speed test (here) to ensure your connection is fast and stable enough for a virtual classroom environment. At least 10 Mbps download and upload speed is ideal. If the speed is slow or inconsistent:
- Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi for better reliability.
- Close unnecessary apps or devices using the internet.
- Position yourself closer to the Wi-Fi router to increase connection strength.
- Set Up your Audio and Video
Vedamo relies on clear audio and video so get these ready in order to be seen and heard clearly:
- We recommend using a headset with a built-in microphone for clear communication. but the built-in laptop microphones should work well. We do recommend that you minimise background noise as much as possible.
- Connect an external webcam if your device doesn’t have one built in.
- Test your microphone and camera work before your session. You can check this in your device’s settings.
